BAPTISM
Your next step in following Jesus.
Baptism is a celebration — it’s your way of telling the world, “I belong to Jesus!”
It’s the outward symbol of an inward change. When you share your story and go under the water, you’re making a public declaration that you’re made new and all in for Jesus!
Baptism doesn’t save you, Jesus does. But it’s one of the very first steps He invites us to take after we put our trust in Him.
How We Baptize
At Destination Church, we follow what the Bible teaches and what Jesus modeled:
- Believers’ baptism by immersion. The word baptizo in the Bible means “to immerse,” and that’s how we baptize — fully under the water, just like Jesus was. In rare cases, such as physical limitations or vulnerable health conditions, we’ll adjust so you can still take this important step.
- A step of faith after salvation. We baptize people who have personally made the decision to follow Jesus and understand what it means to be baptized. This usually means someone is old enough to understand what baptism means — often around age 10-12 or older.
- If you were baptized as a baby… we believe your baptism now doesn’t cancel that moment — it fulfills it. You’re honoring the commitment your parents made to raise you in the faith by making your own decision to follow Jesus.
Why It Matters
Baptism is a big deal. It’s more than a moment in water — it’s a bold statement to your friends, family, and community that your life belongs to Jesus.
- As Romans 6:4 says, “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
- And Acts 2:38 reminds us, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
- We cheer you on — pray for you, and stand with you as your church family as you take this powerful step of faith.

Share Your Story
Before we baptize you, you’ll get to share your story of life change with your church family. We know public speaking might sound intimidating (it’s the #1 fear in America, right ahead of snakes and taxes) — but there’s nothing more worth shouting from the rooftops than what Jesus has done in your life.
Celebrate Big
We’ll cheer, we’ll clap, and we’ll celebrate your new life in Christ together as a church family.
